Review Policy

Thank you so much for checking out my review policies and considering me as a reviewer for your book(s)! I started book blogging as a hobby, and I continue to do it because I really love reading and connecting with authors and bloggers.

I do not consider myself to be a book reviewer, as I do not go into great depth analyzing the books that I read, but rather a “discusser” of books. This blog is my way to discuss the books I love — or the ones I don’t love — with other people who love books just as much as I do, as well as other bookish topics.

Please read this first!

I am accepting review requests, BUT I am being quite picky about them since my reading time is limited.

Reviewing:

The genres I’m most likely to read include:

  • historical fiction
  • women’s fiction
  • romance / chick-lit
  • contemporary fiction
  • Canadian or Indigenous content
  • graphic novels
  • books geared toward kids in the 9-12 age range

If you have a book that is part of a series, I would appreciate reading the previous books in the series before the latest.

Priority will be given to any book that is on my wishlist (link TBA). I will definitely accept any of these for review.

I do accept e-books.

I cannot guarantee a review, but I will try. In most cases, I would prefer to publish a favourable review on my blog rather than a review of a book I did not like. If I dislike a book, I will let you know my thoughts — it will be your decision as the author on whether or not the review is published on my blog.

If the book I’m reviewing is an upcoming release, I will try to schedule my review to post within a few weeks of the release date, though I make no promises that this will happen all the time. Life can get in the way, and plans can change. However, I will try to post on my blog and my social media to promote the book.

Review books I receive from authors or publishers are received complimentary in exchange for a fair and honest review. A free product does not influence my review.

Posting Reviews:

I only post reviews on the blog unless asked otherwise. Sometimes I will post on Goodreads, but it depends on how on the ball I am.

If a review book is set for publication at a later date, I will try to post the review on or before the review date.

Unsolicited Books:

I cannot guarantee a review for every unsolicited book I receive. I do appreciate all unsolicited books sent to me, though, and thank you for thinking of me and my blog.

Interviewing / Guest Posts / Book Tours:

If you’re in the same genre as my favourite authors (or, if you’re one of my favourite authors!), or if I’ve at least read a book of yours, we could definitely try an interview.

If you’re an author or another blogger and want to do a guest post on my site, send me an email, and we can talk about it.

I am available for book tours but do prefer to have at least a month in order to read the book and prepare my review.

Giveaways:

I’m more than happy to host a giveaway on my site for your book or swag. I would definitely prefer to have read the book before giving it away (because I’d like to say something nice about it!). Please get in touch with me with the following details:

  • What the giveaway will include
  • How long would you like the giveaway to last
  • What countries you’re able to send to
  • Whether or not you ship to PO Boxes
  • Any other rules you’d like to add

Contact Me:

If you have any questions or comments, let me know. If you are genuinely interested in getting a review from me for your book, I’m more apt to respond to people who actually take the time to look at my blog or interact with me on social media.

Email me at: hyggedreamer@gmail.com **

Thanks!

**Please note: In regards to sending me queries about reviewing a book, I will only respond to those queries which I am accepting. I receive a number of requests each week and cannot reply to all. I appreciate your understanding.
